New versions of CAD/CAM software for the dental industry in its DentCAD and DentMILL programs has been released by Delcam (www.delcam.com). DentCAD’s design toolset is said to offer improved accuracy in designing dental restorations to provide better fits and so reduce time-consuming manual adjustments during fitting. It also features a new set of automated tools for the high precision design of inlays, onlays, dental bars, customized abutments, collars and pressed crowns
This version of DentMILL is based on Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM software. It features 64-bit operation, multi-threading and background processing to reduce calculation times. Improvements have also been made to generate smoother toolpaths, specifically for five-axis machining. This allows for more accurate surface finishes and minimized stress throughout machining. DentMILL’s range of five-axis machining options has also been increased with the addition of constant-Z undercut machining. Additionally, both DentCAD and DentMILL can be used separately and with any combination of scanners, and CAD or CAM software.
