PTC Releases Creo Apps
Product lifecycle management (PLM) provider Parametric Technology Corporation’s (PTC; ptc.com) launched its design software suite Creo 1.0 earlier this year. It offers the availability of apps and features to make the visualization and computer-aided design (CAD) software easier to use for those at every skill level. Here’s a quick view of some of what the apps offer:
• Creo Direct: Gives even the casual 3D CAD user the tools to participate in the design process, while offering fast and flexible 3D geometry creation and editing.
• Creo Illustrate: Reuses CAD data to generate rich, interactive 3D technical illustrations.
• Creo Parametric: Delivers powerful, flexible, and interactive 3D solid modeling capabilities.
• Creo Simulate: Allows users to analyze models to quickly identify potential problems before spending time and money creating physical prototypes. Once users identify a problem and update the design, they can rerun the analysis—without having to recreate the design.
• Creo Schematics: Provides a set of 2D schematic design tools for documenting both electrical and mechanical systems to help users route such things as 3D pipes and cables.
• Creo View Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD): Enables visualization, analysis and design verification of electronics.
• Creo View Mechanical Computer-Aided Design (MCAD): Enables viewing, interrogating, and marking up of mechanical geometry.
• Creo Sketch: Allows users to quickly sketch their ideas in 2D. Color or other special effects can be added to transform a quick sketch into a finished design. This app is available for use on tablets to capture on-the-go ideas.
• Creo Layout: Creates 2D geometry in concept designs. It also allows users to reuse 2D concepts in 3D designs to speed up the transition from concept to final designs. (Scheduled for release in November ’11.)
