Let’s see: Ford, Mazda, Volkswagen, and “a range of European and Japanese brands.”

Those are all part of designer David Hilton’s CV. For the past dozen years he’d been running his own design studio.

And today Bentley Motors announced that Hilton has been named head of Exterior Design for the company, reporting to director of Design and Styling Dirk van Braeckel.

Hilton moves into a position that had been vacated late in 2011 by Raul Pires, who went to work at Italdesign, the legendary Italian design studio.

Volkswagen Group owns Italdesign.

It also owns Bentley Motors.
