Electric Bike Concept is Easy on the Legs, Eyes

Designers Edward Kim and Benny Cemoli have created an electric bike concept that is off the chain. Urban smack notwithstanding, the INgSOC battery-powered bike – which looks more like a prop in a sci-fi movie than a mode of terrestrial transportation – really is chainless and capable of running in three different modes:

- Battery powered: No legwork necessary

- Battery assisted: Rider and electric motor work together to power the bike

- Battery charge: Rider pedals to propel the bike and to charge the battery

Not only does the bike’s battery fuel the motor, it also powers the front and rear lights, and a built-in dock for charging navigation, entertainment, or communication devices. So be prepared to pedal if you’re in the middle of a podcast or your favorite song and both batteries happen to run out of juice. The good news is, however, that it has a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer frame so it shouldn’t take too much Red Bull to turn the wheels.
