Delcam’s latest PowerMILL release programs safe, efficient toolpaths so machining speed isn’t sacrificed.

CAM Software Facilitates Efficient, Safe Machining

Setting feedrates that are at the maximum of a machine’s performance envelope isn’t always the best strategy for accelerating time to market.

Setting feedrates that are at the maximum of a machine’s performance envelope isn’t always the best strategy for accelerating time to market. Running at high speeds—particularly when the toolpaths aren’t optimal—can damage the tool, the part or both. Enter Delcam’s (delcam.com) 2011 release of PowerMILL. Intended for high-speed, five-axis machining, the CAM software features stock-model engagement options, which enable programming of the safest, most efficient toolpaths to optimize machining speeds.  While other CAM packages are available to assure maximal chip loading during operation, these tend to be focused on roughing operations. The Delcam software works even in finishing passes. Additional PowerMILL features include enhanced control of feedrates for leads-ins and lead-outs, and an enhanced editing library to simplify the machining of duplicate items.
