FiberSIM

This is a FiberSIM 2009 simulation of an aircraft fuselage panel. The red lines highlight the areas that, as designed, cannot be manufactured by an automated fiber placement machine. FiberSIM 2009 alerts users to such oversights before they reach the manufacturing floor.

Faster: When More is More

When engineering composite parts, sometimes more is more.   Not (necessarily) more materials, but more analysis.   That is, the more iterations, the more optimized the design.

When engineering composite parts, sometimes more is more.  Not (necessarily) more materials, but more analysis.  That is, the more iterations, the more optimized the design.  The most recent version of composite software FiberSIM from VISTAGY Inc. aims to streamline the design-to-manufacturing process for composite parts by helping users do just that.  FiberSIM 2009 enables separate analysis and design zones, allowing users to generate composite material analysis updates without having to make changes manually. The result is faster product development by helping users create multiple design versions in far less time.  Additionally, by allowing users to highlight a specific region of the part for alteration, the software tool cuts down on the time normally dedicated to processing layer boundary re-calculations.  Also included in the software is a new design status report that validates boundaries, alerts users when flat patterns are required and spots where material plies may need to be spliced.
