The OmniScan iX high-speed industrial ultrasonic flaw detector system for industrial components from Olympus NDT (www.olympus-ims.com) has been made easier to use thanks to the development of the iXU 2.1 software release. It not only has an improved graphical user interface with short-cut keys, but there is an improved Time Correct Gain (TCG) curve that allows up to 32 points, negative values, and it combines a linear material attenuation function. The system can be deployed in tasks ranging from assembly lines, where it performs a go/no go function to finding small defects in nickel-based turbine engine discs.
