High-Speed, Five-Axis Dental Milling

The D5 Dental Mill from Datron Dynamics (datron.com) is optimized for high-speed machining of applications from crowns to implants in materials ranging from titanium to wax. It’s powered by a 1.8-kW, 50,000-rpm spindle. It can perform five-axis machining in a work area of 3.1 x 7.48 x 4.5 in. It offers a 13-station tool changing unit with tool-length and tool-break sensors. It can also hold sufficient amounts of material for up to 100 hours of unattended operation. The D5 is compatible with all standard scanning systems and CAD/CAM software. Its machine functions are controlled by an Apple iPad, which can be removed by the operator for data uploading and distant machine monitoring.
