This is the 2010 Fisker Karma. Yes, your basic four-door, four-passenger sedan. Although it may resemble a concept car, it isn’t. It’s a production vehicle. It is being built for Fisker Automotive by Valmet Automotive in Finland. Finland? Yes, the same place where Porsche has been having cars built since 1997: over 200,000 Boxsters and Caymans. The Karma’s base price is $87,900. Unlike other sport sedans with a 0 to 60 time of 5.8 seconds, there’s no gas-guzzler tax, but a tax credit (take off $7,300) because it is a plug-in hybrid: two 201-hp electric motors powered by a lithium-ion battery pack provide a full-electric range of 50 miles; a 260-hp turbocharged Ecotec engine works as a generator to provide a total range of 300 miles. In all, about 100 miles per gallon.
