The trend among 3D printer manufacturers is developing smaller, cheaper units. China-based Delta Micro Factory Corp. (pp3dp.com) is no exception. The company has developed “UP!”—a personal, portable 3D printer featuring a 245 x 260 x 350-mm (9.5 x 10.5 x 14-in.) footprint. It weighs just 11 lb.

UP! builds parts in ABS plastic at speeds up to 100 cm³/hr over a work envelope of 140 x 140 x 135 mm. Accuracy is 0.2 mm. It’s available in a plus and basic model. UP! Plus ($2,890) prints in layer thicknesses ranging from 0.2 to 0.4 mm and features a filament feeder, while the basic model ($2,690) prints in layer thicknesses ranging from 0.25 to 0.35 mm but without a filament feeder.
