The Screwdriver Gets a Makeover
The screwdriver has been around for some 500 years. Given that, one might imagine that it isn’t exactly an object pregnant with new development opportunities. But the folks at Melco Direct (“Better Products for a Better Life”) have come up with “My T Driver,” a torque-driven ratcheting device capable of driving through hardwood, sheet rock, composite materials and metals. It features two stainless steel flip out folding arms embedded into the sides of the tool. When dislodged, the arms work as a power lever, delivering up to 300 inch/lbs. of torque—five times more than a conventional screwdriver. And, as you can imagine a commercial for this saying, “There’s more.” In fact, between all its reversible components, and built-in features, Melco Direct claims that one My T Driver can do the job of 24 regular screwdrivers. Apparently, even the most ordinary is grounds for innovation.
